حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ: قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، نَهَى عَنِ الْوِصَالِ، قَالُوا: إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ، قَالَ: «إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَهَيْئَتِكُمْ إِنِّي أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى»

Urdu Translation

  یحییٰ بن یحییٰ ، نافع ، حضرت ابن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے صوم وصال سے منع فرمایا ہے صحابہ رضوان اللہ عنھم اجمعین نے عرض کیا کہ آپ تو وصال کرتے ہیں آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ میں تمہاری طرح نہیں ہوں کیونکہ مجھے تو کھلایا اور پلایا جاتا ہے ۔

English Translation

Ibn 'Umar (Allah be pleased with both of them) said that the Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) forbade uninterrupted fasting. They (some of the Companions) said: You yourself fast uninterruptedly, whereupon he said: I am not like you. I am fed and supplied drink (by Allah).
