حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الثَّقَفِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْقَارِيَّ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَاهُ قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ، قَالَ: جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، جِئْتُ أَهَبُ لَكَ نَفْسِي، فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَصَعَّدَ النَّظَرَ فِيهَا وَصَوَّبَهُ، ثُمَّ طَأْطَأَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأْسَهُ، فَلَمَّا رَأَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَقْضِ فِيهَا شَيْئًا جَلَسَتْ، فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَكَ بِهَا حَاجَةٌ فَزَوِّجْنِيهَا، فَقَالَ: «فَهَلْ عِنْدَكَ مِنْ شَيْءٍ؟» فَقَالَ: لَا، وَاللهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، فَقَالَ: «اذْهَبْ إِلَى أَهْلِكَ فَانْظُرْ هَلْ تَجِدُ شَيْئًا؟» فَذَهَبَ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ، فَقَالَ: لَا، وَاللهِ، مَا وَجَدْتُ شَيْئًا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «انْظُرْ وَلَوْ خَاتِمًا مِنْ حَدِيدٍ»، فَذَهَبَ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ، فَقَالَ: لَا، وَاللهِ، يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَلَا خَاتِمًا مِنْ حَدِيدٍ، وَلَكِنْ هَذَا إِزَارِي - قَالَ سَهْلٌ: مَا لَهُ رِدَاءٌ - فَلَهَا نِصْفُهُ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَا تَصْنَعُ بِإِزَارِكَ؟ إِنْ لَبِسْتَهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ عَلَيْهَا مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ، وَإِنْ لَبِسَتْهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ عَلَيْكَ مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ»، فَجَلَسَ الرَّجُلُ، حَتَّى إِذَا طَالَ مَجْلِسُهُ قَامَ، فَرَآهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُوَلِّيًا، فَأَمَرَ بِهِ فَدُعِيَ، فَلَمَّا جَاءَ قَالَ: «مَاذَا مَعَكَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ؟» قَالَ: مَعِي سُورَةُ كَذَا وَسُورَةُ كَذَا - عَدَّدَهَا - فَقَالَ: «تَقْرَؤُهُنَّ عَنْ ظَهْرِ قَلْبِكَ؟» قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: «اذْهَبْ فَقَدْ مُلِّكْتَهَا بِمَا مَعَكَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ»، هَذَا حَدِيثُ ابْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، وَحَدِيثُ يَعْقُوبَ يُقَارِبُهُ فِي اللَّفْظِ.

Urdu Translation

  یعقوب بن عبدالرحمٰن القاری اور عبدالعزیز بن ابی حازم نے ابوحازم سے ، انہوں نے حضرت سہل بن سعد ساعدی رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت کی ، کہا : ایک خاتون رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئی ، اور عرض کی : اے اللہ کے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم! میں اپنی ذات آپ کو ہبہ کرنے کے لیے حاضر ہوئی ہوں ، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس کی طرف نظر کی ، آپ اپنی نظر نیچے سے اوپر اور اوپر سے نیچے تک لے گئے ۔ پھررسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنا سر مبارک جھکا لیا ۔ جب عورت نے دیکھا کہ آپ نے اس کے بارے میں کوئی فیصلہ نہیں کیا تو وہ بیٹھ گئی ۔ اس پر آپ کے صحابہ میں سے ایک آدمی کھڑا ہوا اور عرض کی : اے اللہ کے رسول ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) ! اگر آپ کو اس ( کے ساتھ شادی ) کی ضرورت نہیں تو اس کی شادی میرے ساتھ کر دیں ۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے پوچھا : کیا تمہارے پاس ( حق مہر میں دینے کے لیے ) کوئی چیز ہے؟ " اس نے جواب دیا : اللہ کی قسم! اللہ کے رسول! ( کچھ ) نہیں ہے ۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : " اپنے گھر والوں کے پاس جاؤ ، دیکھو تمہیں کچھ ملتا ہے؟ " وہ گیا پھر واپس آیا اور عرض کی : نہیں ، اللہ کی قسم! مجھے کچھ نہیں ملا ۔ تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : " دیکھو! چاہے لوہے کی انگوٹھی ہو ۔ " وہ گیا پھر واپس آیا ، اور عرض کی ، نہیں ، اللہ کی قسم! اللہ کے رسول! لوہے کی انگوٹھی بھی نہیں ہے ، البتہ میری یہ تہبند ہے ۔ سہل نے کہا : اس کے پاس ( کندھے کی ) چادر بھی نہیں تھی ۔ اس میں سے آدھی ( بطور مہر ) اِس کے لیے ہے ۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : " وہ تمہارے تہبند کا کیا کرے گی ، اگر تم اسے پہنو گے تو اس ( کے جسم ) پر اس میں سے کچھ نہیں ہو گا اور اگر وہ پہنے گی تو تم پر اس میں سے کچھ نہیں ہو گا ۔ " اس پر وہ آدمی بیٹھ گیا ۔ اسے بیٹھے ہوئے لمبا وقت ہو گیا تو وہ کھڑا ہو گیا ( اور چل دیا ۔ ) رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اسے پیٹھ پھیر کر جاتے ہوئے دیکھ لیا ۔ آپ نے اس کے بارے میں حکم دیا تو اسے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خاطر بلا لیا گیا ، جب وہ آیا تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : " تمہارے پاس قرآن کتنا ہے؟ " ( تمہیں کتنا قرآن یاد ہے؟ ) اس نے عرض کی : میرے پاس فلاں سورت اور فلاں سورت ہے ۔ اس نے وہ سورتیں شمار کیں ۔ تو آپ نے پوچھا : " تم انہیں زبانی پڑھتے ہو؟ " اس نے عرض کی ، جی ہاں! آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : " جاؤ ، تمہیں جتنا قرآن یاد ہے اس کے عوض ( نکاح کے لیے ) تمہیں اس کا مالک ( خاوند ) بنا دیا گیا ہے ۔ " یہ ابن ابوحازم کی حدیث ہے ، یعقوب کی حدیث بھی الفاظ میں اسی کے قریب ہے

English Translation

Sahl b. Sa'd al-Sa'idi (Allah be pleased with him) reported: A woman came to Allah's Messenger. ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) and said: Messenger of Allah, I have come to you to entrust myself to you (you may contract my marriage with anyone at your discretion). Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) saw her and cast a glance at her from head to foot. Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) then lowered his head. When the woman saw that he had made no decision in regard to her, she sat down. There stood up a person from amongst his companions and said: Messenger of Allah, marry her to me if you have no need of her. He (the Prophet) said: is there anything with you (which you con give as a dower)? He said: No, Messenger of Allah, by Allah I have nothing. Thereupon Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) said: Go to your people (family) and see if you can find something. He returned and said: I have found nothing. The Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) said: See even if it is an iron ring. He went and returned and said: No, by Allah, not even an iron ring, but only this lower garment of mine (Sahl said that he had no upper garment), half of which (I am prepared to part with) for her. Thereupon Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) said: How can your lower garment serve your purpose, for it you wear it, she would not be able to make any use of it and if she wears it there would not be anything on you? The man sat down and as the sitting prolonged he stood up (in disappointment) and as he was going back Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) commanded (him) to be called back, and as he came, he said to him: Do you know any part of the Qur'an? He said: I know such and such surahs (and he counted them), whereupon he ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) said: Can you recite them from heart (from your memory)? He said: Yes, whereupon he (Allah's Messenger) said: Go, I have given her to you in marriage for the part of the Qur'an which you know.
