وحَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «لَا تُحِدُّ امْرَأَةٌ عَلَى مَيِّتٍ فَوْقَ ثَلَاثٍ، إِلَّا عَلَى زَوْجٍ، أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَعَشْرًا، وَلَا تَلْبَسُ ثَوْبًا مَصْبُوغًا، إِلَّا ثَوْبَ عَصْبٍ، وَلَا تَكْتَحِلُ، وَلَا تَمَسُّ طِيبًا، إِلَّا إِذَا طَهُرَتْ، نُبْذَةً مِنْ قُسْطٍ أَوْ أَظْفَارٍ

Urdu Translation

  ابن ادریس نے ہمیں ہشام سے حدیث بیان کی ، انہوں نے حضرت حفصہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے اور انہوں نے ام عطیہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے روایت کی کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : " کوئی عورت کسی مرنے والے پر تین دن سے زیادہ سوگ نہ منائے ، مگر خاوند پر ، ( اس پر ) چار مہینے دس دن ( سوگ منائے ) نہ وہ عَصب کے خانہ دار کپڑے کے سوا کوئی رنگا ہوا کپڑا پہنے ، نہ سرمہ لگائے ، مگر ( اس دوران میں ) جب ( حیض سے ) پاک ہو تو معمولی سی قُسط یا اظفار ( جیسی کوئی چیز ) استعمال کر لے ۔ " ( یہ دونوں خوشبوئیں نہیں ، صرف بدبو کو زائل کرنے والے بخور ہیں

English Translation

Umm `Atiyya (Allah be pleased with her) reported that Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) had said: A woman must not observe mourning for one who had died for more than three (days) except for four months and ten days in the case of her husband. And she must not wear a dyed garment except one of the types made of dyed yarn, or apply collyrium, or touch perfume except a little perfume or incense, when she has been purified after her courses.
