وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «لَا طِيَرَةَ وَخَيْرُهَا الْفَأْلُ» قِيلَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَمَا الْفَأْلُ؟ قَالَ: «الْكَلِمَةُ الصَّالِحَةُ يَسْمَعُهَا أَحَدُكُمْ»

Urdu Translation

  معمر نے زہری سے ، انھوں نے عبید اللہ بن عبد اللہ بن عتبہ سے روایت کی کہ حضرت ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے کہا : میں نے نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو فرماتے ہو ئے سنا : " بد شگونی کی کو ئی حقیقت نہیں اور شگون میں سے اچھی نیک فال ہے ۔ " عرض کی گئی ۔ اللہ کے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم !فال کیا ہے ؟ ( وہ شگون سے کس طرح مختلف ہے؟ ) آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فر ما یا : " ( فال ) نیک کلمہ ہے تو تم میں سے کوئی شخص سنتا ہےَ ۔ "

English Translation

Abu Huraira reported: I heard Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) as saying: There is no divination but the best type is the good omen. It was said to Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ): What is good omen? Thereupon he said: A good word which one of you hears.
