وحَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَهْضَمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ وَهُوَ عِنْدَنَا ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: كَانَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ يَوْمًا عِنْدَ هَدْمٍ لَهُ، فَرَأَى وَبِيصَ جَانٍّ فَقَالَ: اتَّبِعُوا هَذَا الْجَانَّ فَاقْتُلُوهُ، قَالَ أَبُو لُبَابَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ: إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ «نَهَى عَنْ قَتْلِ الْجِنَّانِ الَّتِي تَكُونُ فِي الْبُيُوتِ، إِلَّا الْأَبْتَرَ وَذَا الطُّفْيَتَيْنِ، فَإِنَّهُمَا اللَّذَانِ يَخْطِفَانِ الْبَصَرَ، وَيَتَتَبَّعَانِ مَا فِي بُطُونِ النِّسَاءِ»

Urdu Translation

  عمر بن نافع نے اپنے والد سے روایت کی ، کہا : ایک دن حضرت عبد اللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ اپنے گھر کے گرے ہو ئے حصے کے قریب مو جو د تھے کہ انھوں نے اچانک سانپ کی ایک کینچلی دیکھی ، حضرت ابن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے فر ما یا : اس سانپ کو تلا ش کر کے قتل کردو ۔ حضرت ابو لبابہ انصاری رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے کہا : میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے سنا ، آپ نے ان سانپوں کو ، جو گھروں میں رہتے ہیں قتل کرنےسے منع فر ما یا ، سوا ئے دم کٹے اور دو سفید دھاریوں والے سانپوں کے کیونکہ یہی دوسانپ ہیں جو نظر کو زائل کر دیتے ہیں اور عورتوں کے حمل کو نقصان پہنچاتے ۔

English Translation

Nafi' reported on the authority of his father that as 'Abdullah b. 'Umar saw one day (standing) near the ruin (of his house) the slough of a snake and said (to the people around him): Pursue this snake and kill it. Abu Lubaba Ansari said: I heard Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ). He forbade the killing of snakes found in the houses except the short-tailed snakes and those having streaks upon them, for both of them obliterate eyesight and affect that which is in the wombs of (pregnant) women.
