Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) as saying: The truest verse recited by a poet is: Behold! apart from Allah everything is vain, and Ibn Abu Salt was almost a Muslim.

وحَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ زَائِدَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: أَصْدَقُ بَيْتٍ قَالَهُ الشَّاعِرُ: [البحر الطويل] أَلَا كُلُّ شَيْءٍ مَا خَلَا اللهَ بَاطِلٌ وَكَادَ ابْنُ أَبِي الصَّلْتِ أَنْ يُسْلِمَ

  زائد ہ نے عبد الملک بن عمیر سے ، انھوں نے ابو سلمہ بن عبدالرحمٰن سے ، انھوں نے حضرت ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت کی ، کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرما یا : " کسی بھی شاعرکا کہا ہوا سب سے سچا شعر وہ ہے جو لبید نے کہا ہے ۔ " سنو اللہ کے سوا ہر چیز باطل ہے ۔ " اور قریب تھا کہ امیہ بن ابی صلت مسلمان ہو جا تا ۔ "
