Anas reported Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) as saying: When one of you makes supplication, he should supplicate with a will and should not say: O Allah, confer upon me if Thou likest, for there is none to coerce Allah.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ جَمِيعًا عَنْ ابْنِ عُلَيَّةَ قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَعِيلُ ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ صُهَيْبٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا دَعَا أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَعْزِمْ فِي الدُّعَاءِ وَلَا يَقُلْ اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ شِئْتَ فَأَعْطِنِي فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا مُسْتَكْرِهَ لَهُ

  ) عبدالعزیز بن صُہیب نے حضرت انس رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت کی ، انہوں نے کہا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : " جب تک تم میں سے کوئی شخص دعا کرے تو قطعیت کے ساتھ ( اصرار کرتے ہوئے ) دعا کرے اور یہ نہ کہے : اے اللہ! اگر تو چاہے تو مجھے دے دے ، کیونکہ اللہ کو مجبور کرنے والا کوئی نہیں ہے ۔ "
