حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ زَائِدَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا تُقَدِّمُوا الشَّهْرَ بِصِيَامِ يَوْمٍ وَلَا يَوْمَيْنِ إِلَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ شَيْءٌ يَصُومُهُ أَحَدُكُمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَا تَصُومُوا حَتَّى تَرَوْهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ صُومُوا حَتَّى تَرَوْهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنْ حَالَ دُونَهُ غَمَامَةٌ فَأَتِمُّوا الْعِدَّةَ ثَلَاثِينَ ثُمَّ أَفْطِرُوا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالشَّهْرُ تِسْعٌ وَعِشْرُونَ . قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد:‏‏‏‏ رَوَاهُ حَاتِمُ بْنُ أَبِي صَغِيرَةَ وَ شُعْبَةُ وَ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏بِمَعْنَاهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَمْ يَقُولُوا:‏‏‏‏ ثُمَّ أَفْطِرُوا . قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد:‏‏‏‏ وَهُوَ حَاتِمُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ابْنُ أَبِي صَغِيرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَ أَبُو صَغِيرَةَ زَوْجُ أُمِّهِ.

Urdu Translation

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: رمضان سے ایک یا دو دن پہلے ہی روزے رکھنے شروع نہ کر دو، ہاں اگر کسی کا کوئی معمول ہو تو رکھ سکتا ہے، اور بغیر چاند دیکھے روزے نہ رکھو، پھر روزے رکھتے جاؤ، ( جب تک کہ شوال کا ) چاند نہ دیکھ لو، اگر اس کے درمیان بدلی حائل ہو جائے تو تیس کی گنتی پوری کرو اس کے بعد ہی روزے رکھنا چھوڑو، اور مہینہ انتیس دن کا بھی ہوتا ہے ۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: حاتم بن ابی صغیرہ، شعبہ اور حسن بن صالح نے سماک سے پہلی حدیث کے مفہوم کے ہم معنی روایت کیا ہے لیکن ان لوگوں نے «فأتموا العدة ثلاثين» کے بعد «ثم أفطروا» نہیں کہا ہے۔

English Translation

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: Do not fast one day or two days just before Ramadan except in the case of a man who has been in the habit or observing a fast (on that day); and do not fast until you sight it (the moon). Then fast until you sight it. If a cloud appears on that day (i. e. 29th of Ramadan) then complete the number thirty (days) and then end the fasting: a month consists of twenty-nine days.
