حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا قُرَّةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ يَزِيدَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كُنَّا بِالْمِرْبَدِ فَجَاءَ رَجُل أَشْعَثُ الرَّأْسِ بِيَدِهِ قِطْعَةُ أَدِيمٍ أَحْمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْنَا:‏‏‏‏ كَأَنَّكَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَجَلْ قُلْنَا:‏‏‏‏ نَاوِلْنَا هَذِهِ الْقِطْعَةَ الأَدِيمَ الَّتِي فِي يَدِكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَنَاوَلَنَاهَا فَقَرَأْنَاهَا فَإِذَا فِيهَا مِنْ مُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ إِلَى بَنِي زُهَيْرِ بْنِ أُقَيْشٍ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّكُمْ إِنْ شَهِدْتُمْ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَأَقَمْتُمُ الصَّلَاةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَآتَيْتُمُ الزَّكَاةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَدَّيْتُمُ الْخُمُسَ مِنَ الْمَغْنَمِ وَسَهْمَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الصَّفِيَّ أَنْتُمْ آمِنُونَ بِأَمَانِ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْنَا مَنْ كَتَبَ لَكَ هَذَا الْكِتَابَ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.

Urdu Translation

یزید بن عبداللہ کہتے ہیں   ہم مربد ( ایک گاؤں کا نام ہے ) میں تھے اتنے میں ایک شخص آیا جس کے سر کے بال بکھرے ہوئے تھے اور اس کے ہاتھ میں سرخ چمڑے کا ایک ٹکڑا تھا ہم نے کہا: تم گویا کہ صحراء کے رہنے والے ہو؟ اس نے کہا: ہاں ہم نے کہا: چمڑے کا یہ ٹکڑا جو تمہارے ہاتھ میں ہے تم ہمیں دے دو، اس نے اس کو ہمیں دے دیا، ہم نے اسے پڑھا تو اس میں لکھا تھا: یہ محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی طرف سے زہیر بن اقیش کے لیے ہے ( انہیں معلوم ہو کہ ) اگر تم اس بات کی گواہی دینے لگ جاؤ گے کہ اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود برحق نہیں، اور محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اللہ کے بھیجے ہوئے رسول ہیں، اور نماز قائم کرنے اور زکاۃ دینے لگو گے اور مال غنیمت میں سے ( خمس جو اللہ و رسول کا حق ہے ) اور نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے حصہ «صفی» کو ادا کرو گے تو تمہیں اللہ اور اس کے رسول کی امان حاصل ہو گی ، تو ہم نے پوچھا: یہ تحریر تمہیں کس نے لکھ کر دی ہے؟ تو اس نے کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے۔

English Translation

Narrated Yazid ibn Abdullah: We were at Mirbad. A man with dishevelled hair and holding a piece of red skin in his hand came. We said: You appear to be a bedouin. He said: Yes. We said: Give us this piece of skin in your hand. He then gave it to us and we read it. It contained the text: From Muhammad, Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم, to Banu Zuhayr ibn Uqaysh. If you bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, offer prayer, pay zakat, pay the fifth from the booty, and the portion of the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and his special portion (safi), you will be under by the protection of Allah and His Messenger. We then asked: Who wrote this document for you? He replied: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم.
