حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ شَقِيقٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ الْأَشْعَثِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ رَجُلٍ مِنْ الْيَهُودِ أَرْضٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَجَحَدَنِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَدَّمْتُهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ لِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ أَلَكَ بَيِّنَةٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ لَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ لِلْيَهُودِيِّ:‏‏‏‏ احْلِفْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِذًا يَحْلِفُ وَيَذْهَبُ بِمَالِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَشْتَرُونَ بِعَهْدِ اللَّهِ وَأَيْمَانِهِمْ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلا سورة آل عمران آية 77 إِلَى آخِرِ الْآيَةِ .

Urdu Translation

اشعث رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   میرے اور ایک یہودی کے درمیان کچھ ( مشترک ) زمین تھی، یہودی نے میرے حصہ کا انکار کیا، میں اسے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس لے گیا تو نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مجھ سے فرمایا: کیا تمہارے پاس کوئی گواہ ہے؟ میں نے کہا: نہیں، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے یہودی سے فرمایا: تم قسم کھاؤ میں نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! تب تو یہ قسم کھا کر میرا مال ہڑپ لے گا، تو اللہ تعالیٰ نے یہ آیت نازل فرمائی: «إن الذين يشترون بعهد الله وأيمانهم» جو لوگ اللہ کا عہد و پیمان دے کر اور اپنی قسمیں کھا کر تھوڑا مال خریدتے ہیں آخرت میں ان کا کوئی حصہ نہیں ( سورة آل عمران: ۷۷ ) ۔

English Translation

Al-Ashath bin Qais said: A Jew and I shared some land and he denied my right, so I took him to the holy prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. The holy prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said to me: Have you have proof. I said: No. He then said to the Jew: Swear an oath I said Messenger of Allah, he will swear an oath and go off my property. So Allah sent down: “Those who barter for a small price Allah’s covenant and their oaths. . . . to the end of the verse.
