حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ حَمَّادَ بْنَ سَلَمَةَ يُفَسِّرُ حَدِيثَ كُلُّ مَوْلُودٍ يُولَدُ عَلَى الْفِطْرَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا عِنْدَنَا حَيْثُ أَخَذَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْعَهْدَ فِي أَصْلَابِ آبَائِهِمْ حَيْثُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَلَسْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ قَالُوا بَلَى سورة الأعراف آية 172 .

Urdu Translation

حجاج بن منہال کہتے کہ   میں نے حماد بن سلمہ کو «كل مولود يولد على الفطرة» ہر بچہ فطرت ( اسلام ) پر پیدا ہوتا ہے ۱؎ کی تفسیر کرتے سنا، آپ نے کہا: ہمارے نزدیک اس سے مراد وہ عہد ہے جو اللہ نے ان سے اسی وقت لے لیا تھا، جب وہ اپنے آباء کی پشتوں میں تھے، اللہ نے ان سے پوچھا تھا: «ألست بربكم قالوا بلى» کیا میں تمہارا رب ( معبود ) نہیں ہوں؟ تو انہوں نے کہا تھا: کیوں نہیں، ضرور ہیں۔

English Translation

Explaining the tradition “Every child is a born on Islam”, Hammad bin Salamah said: In our opinion it means that covenant which Allah had taken in the loins of their fathers when He said: “Am I not your Lord? They said: Yes.
