حَدَّثَنَا تَمِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْتَصِرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ يُوسُفَ،‏‏‏‏عَنْ شَرِيكٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْعَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كُنَّا لَا نَدْرِي مَا نَقُولُ إِذَا جَلَسْنَا فِي الصَّلَاةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ عُلِّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ. قَالَ شَرِيكٌ:‏‏‏‏ وَحَدَّثَنَا جَامِعٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي شَدَّادٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏بِمِثْلِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَكَانَ يُعَلِّمُنَا كَلِمَاتٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَمْ يَكُنْ يُعَلِّمُنَاهُنَّ كَمَا يُعَلِّمُنَا التَّشَهُّدَ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ أَلِّفْ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِنَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَصْلِحْ ذَاتَ بَيْنِنَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَاهْدِنَا سُبُلَ السَّلَامِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَنَجِّنَا مِنَ الظُّلُمَاتِ إِلَى النُّورِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَجَنِّبْنَا الْفَوَاحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَبَارِكْ لَنَا فِي أَسْمَاعِنَا وَأَبْصَارِنَا وَقُلُوبِنَا وَأَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَتُبْ عَلَيْنَا إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَاجْعَلْنَا شَاكِرِينَ لِنِعْمَتِكَ مُثْنِينَ بِهَا قَابِلِيهَا وَأَتِمَّهَا عَلَيْنَا . ع

Urdu Translation

عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   ہم کو معلوم نہ تھا کہ جب ہم نماز میں بیٹھیں تو کیا کہیں، پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو بتایا گیا، پھر راوی نے اسی طرح کی روایت ذکر کی۔ شریک کہتے ہیں: ہم سے جامع یعنی ابن شداد نے بیان کیا کہ انہوں نے ابووائل سے اور ابووائل نے عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ سے اسی کے مثل روایت کی ہے اس میں ( اتنا اضافہ ) ہے کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ہمیں چند کلمات سکھاتے تھے اور انہیں اس طرح نہیں سکھاتے تھے جیسے تشہد سکھاتے تھے اور وہ یہ ہیں: «اللهم ألف بين قلوبنا وأصلح ذات بيننا واهدنا سبل السلام ونجنا من الظلمات إلى النور وجنبنا الفواحش ما ظهر منها وما بطن وبارك لنا في أسماعنا وأبصارنا وقلوبنا وأزواجنا وذرياتنا وتب علينا إنك أنت التواب الرحيم واجعلنا شاكرين لنعمتك مثنين بها قابليها وأتمها علينا» اے اللہ! تو ہمارے دلوں میں الفت و محبت پیدا کر دے، اور ہماری حالتوں کو درست فرما دے، اور راہ سلامتی کی جانب ہماری رہنمائی کر دے اور ہمیں تاریکیوں سے نجات دے کر روشنی عطا کر دے، آنکھوں، دلوں اور ہماری بیوی بچوں میں برکت عطا کر دے، اور ہماری توبہ قبول فرما لے تو توبہ قبول فرمانے والا اور رحم و کرم کرنے والا ہے، اور ہمیں اپنی نعمتوں پر شکر گزار و ثنا خواں اور اسے قبول کرنے والا بنا دے، اور اے اللہ! ان نعمتوں کو ہمارے اوپر کامل کر دے ۔

English Translation

Narrated Abdullah ibn Masud: We did not know what we should say when we sat during prayer. The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم was taught (by Allah). He then narrated the tradition to the same effect. Sharik reported from Jami', from Abu Wail on the authority of Abdullah ibn Masud something similar. He said: He used to teach us also some other words, but he did not teach them as he taught us the tashahhud: O Allah, join our hearts, mend our social relationship, guide us to the path of peace, bring us from darkness to light, save us from obscenities, outward or inward, and bless our ears, our eyes, our hearts, our wives, our children, and relent toward us; Thou art the Relenting, the Merciful. And make us grateful for Thy blessing and make us praise it while accepting it and give it to us in full.
