It was narrated that 'Aishah said: I noticed the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was missing one night, and I found him when he was prostrating with his feet held upright, and he was saying: 'Allahumma, inni a'udhu biridaka min sakhatik, wa bimu'afatika min 'uqubatik, wa bika minka la uhsi thana'an 'alaika anta kama athnaita 'ala nafsik (O Allah, I seek refuge with Your pleasure from Your wrath, in Your forgiveness from Your punishment and in You from You. I cannot praise You enough, You are as You have praised Yourself.)

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَبَّانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِالْأَعْرَجِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قالت:‏‏‏‏ فَقَدْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ فَانْتَهَيْتُ إِلَيْهِ وَهُوَ سَاجِدٌ وَقَدَمَاهُ مَنْصُوبَتَانِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِرِضَاكَ مِنْ سَخَطِكَ وَبِمُعَافَاتِكَ مِنْ عُقُوبَتِكَ وَبِكَ مِنْكَ لَا أُحْصِي ثَنَاءً عَلَيْكَ أَنْتَ كَمَا أَثْنَيْتَ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ .

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ   ایک رات مجھے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم بستر پہ نہیں ملے تو میں تلاش کرتی ہوئی آپ تک پہنچی، آپ سجدے میں تھے، آپ کے دونوں قدم کھڑے تھے، اور آپ یہ دعا پڑھ رہے تھے: «اللہم إني أعوذ برضاك من سخطك وبمعافاتك من عقوبتك وبك منك لا أحصي ثناء عليك أنت كما أثنيت على نفسك»  اے اللہ! میں پناہ مانگتا ہوں تیری رضا مندی کی تیری ناراضگی سے، تیرے عفو و درگزر کی تیری سزا اور عقوبت سے، اور تیری پناہ چاہتا ہوں تیرے غضب سے، میں تیری تعریف کی طاقت نہیں رکھتا، تو ویسے ہی ہے جیسے تو نے اپنی تعریف بیان کی ہے ۔
