It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that : The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) finished praying two rak'ahs,and Dhul-Yadain said to him: Has the prayer been shortened or did you forget, O Messenger of Allah? The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Is Dhul-Yadain speaking the truth? The people said: Yes. So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) stood up and prayed two, then he said the takbir and prostrated as usual or longer than that. Then he raised his head, then he prostrated as usual or longer than that, then he sat up.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْقَاسِمِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مَالِكٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنِي أَيُّوبُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ،‏‏‏‏ انْصَرَفَ مِنَ اثْنَتَيْنِ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ لَهُ ذُو الْيَدَيْنِ:‏‏‏‏ أَقُصِرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ أَمْ نَسِيتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ أَصَدَقَ ذُو الْيَدَيْنِ ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ النَّاسُ:‏‏‏‏ نَعَمْ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ،‏‏‏‏ فَصَلَّى اثْنَتَيْنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ فَسَجَدَ مِثْلَ سُجُودِهِ أَوْ أَطْوَلَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ سَجَدَ مِثْلَ سُجُودِهِ أَوْ أَطْوَلَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ رَفَعَ .

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے دو ہی رکعت پر نماز ختم کر دی، تو آپ سے ذوالیدین نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! کیا نماز کم کر دی گئی ہے یا آپ بھول گئے ہیں؟، تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا:  کیا ذوالیدین سچ کہہ رہے ہیں؟  لوگوں نے کہا: جی ہاں، تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کھڑے ہوئے، پھر آپ نے دو  ( رکعت مزید )  پڑھائی، پھر سلام پھیرا، پھر آپ نے اللہ اکبر کہہ کر اپنے سجدوں کی طرح یا اس سے لمبا سجدہ کیا، پھر اپنا سر اٹھایا، پھر اپنے سجدوں کی طرح یا اس سے لمبا دوسرا سجدہ کیا، پھر اپنا سر اٹھایا۔
