أَخْبَرَنَا هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي مُعَاوِيَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الْحَكَمِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُخَيْمِرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ شُرَيْحِ بْنِ هَانِئٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا عَنِ الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ ائْتِ عَلِيًّا فَإِنَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِذَلِكَ مِنِّي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَتَيْتُعَلِيًّا فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الْمَسْحِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأْمُرُنَا أَنْ يَمْسَحَ الْمُقِيمُ يَوْمًا وَلَيْلَةً وَالْمُسَافِرُ ثَلَاثًا .

Urdu Translation

شریح بن ہانی کہتے ہیں کہ   میں نے ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے موزوں پر مسح کے متعلق دریافت کیا، تو انہوں نے کہا: علی رضی اللہ عنہ سے جا کر پوچھو، وہ اس بارے میں مجھ سے زیادہ جانتے ہیں، چنانچہ میں علی رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس آیا اور ان سے مسح کے متعلق دریافت کیا؟ تو انہوں نے کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ہمیں حکم دیتے تھے کہ مقیم ایک دن ایک رات، اور مسافر تین دن اور تین راتیں مسح کرے ۱؎۔

English Translation

It was narrated that Shuraih bin Hani' said: I asked 'Aishah about wiping over the Khuffs and she said: 'Go to 'Ali, for he knows more about that than I do.' So I went to 'Ali and asked him about wiping (over the Khuffs) and he said: 'The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to tell us to wipe (over the Khuffs) for one day and one night for the resident, and three for the traveler.'
