It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin 'Umar that: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: The sun and moon do not become eclipsed for death or birth of anyone, rather they are two of the signs of Allah (SWT) the Most High, so when you see that then pray.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ الْقَاسِمِ حَدَّثَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ لَا يَخْسِفَانِ لِمَوْتِ أَحَدٍ وَلَا لِحَيَاتِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَكِنَّهُمَا آيَتَانِ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهُمَا فَصَلُّوا .

عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہم کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا:  سورج اور چاند گرہن کسی کے مرنے اور کسی کے پیدا ہونے سے نہیں لگتا ہے، بلکہ یہ اللہ تعالیٰ کی نشانیوں میں سے دو نشانیاں ہیں، تو جب تم انہیں دیکھو تو نماز پڑھو ۔
