It was narrated from Ya'la bin Ata that he heard Ali Al-Azdi (say) that he heard Ibn Umar narrate that: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: The prayers of the night and day are two by two.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ،‏‏‏‏ وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَلِيًّا الْأَزْدِيَّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يُحَدِّثُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى ،‏‏‏‏ قال أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ عِنْدِي خَطَأٌ وَاللَّهُ تَعَالَى أَعْلَمُ.

عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہم کہتے ہیں کہ   نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا:  رات اور دن کی نماز دو دو رکعت ہے  ۱؎۔ ابوعبدالرحمٰن نسائی کہتے ہیں: میرے خیال میں اس حدیث میں غلطی ہوئی ہے ۲؎ واللہ اعلم۔
