It was narrated that Anas said: The Prophet (ﷺ) would not raise his hands in any of his supplications except when praying for rain (Al-Istisqa'). (One of the narrators) Shu'bah said: I said to Thabit: 'Did you hear it from Anas?' He said: 'Subhan Allah!' I said: 'Did you hear it?' He said: 'Subhan Allah!'

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ثَابِتٍ الْبُنَانِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَنَسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ فِي شَيْءٍ مِنْ دُعَائِهِ إِلَّا فِي الِاسْتِسْقَاءِ ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ:‏‏‏‏ فَقُلْتُ لِثَابِتٍ:‏‏‏‏ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ أَنَسٍ ؟، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ،‏‏‏‏ قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتَهُ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ.

انس رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اپنے دونوں ہاتھ استسقاء کے علاوہ کسی دعا میں نہیں اٹھاتے تھے۔ شعبہ کہتے ہیں: میں نے ثابت سے پوچھا: آپ نے اسے انس رضی اللہ عنہ سے سنا ہے؟ تو انہوں نے کہا: سبحان اللہ، میں نے کہا: آپ نے اسے سنا ہے؟ انہوں نے کہا: سبحان اللہ ۱؎۔
