أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ أَبُو الْجَوْزَاءِ وَهُوَ ثِقَةٌ بَصْرِيٌّ أَخُو أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنْبَأَنَا حِبَّانُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ صُومُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَفْطِرُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنْ غُمَّ عَلَيْكُمْ فَأَكْمِلُوا الْعِدَّةَ ثَلَاثِينَ .

Urdu Translation

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”اسے ( رمضان کا چاند ) دیکھ کر روزہ رکھو، اور اسے ( عید الفطر کا چاند ) دیکھ کر روزہ بند کرو، ( اور ) اگر تم پر بادل چھائے ہوں تو تیس کی گنتی پوری کرو“۔

English Translation

It was narrated that Ibn Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah said; 'Fast when you see it and stop fasting when you see it, and if it is obscured from you (too cloudy), then complete thirty (days). '
