It was narrated that Abu 'Atiyyah said: Masruq and I came to 'Aishah and we said to her: 'O mother of the Believers, two men from among the Companions of Muhammad; one of them hastens the Iftar and hastens the prayer, and the other delays Iftar and delays the prayer; She said: 'Which one of them hastens Iftar and has hastens the prayer?' we said : 'Abdullah bin Masud.' She said: 'That is what the Messenger of Allah used to do. And the other was Abu Musa.

أَخْبَرَنَا هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي مُعَاوِيَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عُمَارَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي عَطِيَّةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ دَخَلْتُ أَنَا وَمَسْرُوقٌ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْنَا لَهَا يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ! رَجُلَانِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَحَدُهُمَا يُعَجِّلُ الْإِفْطَارَ وَيُعَجِّلُ الصَّلَاةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْآخَرُ يُؤَخِّرُ الْإِفْطَارَ وَيُؤَخِّرُ الصَّلَاةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ أَيُّهُمَا يُعَجِّلُ الْإِفْطَارَ وَيُعَجِّلُ الصَّلَاةَ ؟ قُلْنَا:‏‏‏‏ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ هَكَذَا كَانَ يَصْنَعُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْآخَرُ أَبُو مُوسَى رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا .

ابوعطیہ وادعی ہمدانی کہتے ہیں   میں اور مسروق دونوں ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کے پاس گئے، ہم نے ان سے کہا: ام المؤمنین! محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے اصحاب میں سے دو آدمی ہیں، ان میں سے ایک افطار میں جلدی کرتے ہیں اور نماز میں بھی جلدی کرتے ہیں، اور دوسرے افطار میں تاخیر کرتے ہیں اور نماز میں بھی تاخیر کرتے ہیں، انہوں نے پوچھا: کون ہیں جو افطار میں جلدی کرتے اور نماز میں بھی جلدی کرتے ہیں؟ ہم نے کہا: وہ عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ ہیں، انہوں نے کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ایسا ہی کرتے تھے۔ ( دوسرے شخص ابوموسیٰ اشعری رضی اللہ عنہ تھے۔ )
