أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَبِيبِ بْنِ عَرَبِيٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا وَاصِلٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ بَشَّارِ بْنِ أَبِي سَيْفٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عِيَاضِ بْنِ غُطَيْفٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ،‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ الصَّوْمُ جُنَّةٌ مَا لَمْ يَخْرِقْهَا .

Urdu Translation

ابوعبیدہ عامر بن عبداللہ الجراح رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو فرماتے سنا: ”روزہ ڈھال ہے جب تک کہ وہ اسے ( جھوٹ و غیبت وغیرہ کے ذریعہ ) پھاڑ نہ دے“۔

English Translation

Abu 'Ubaidah said: I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'Fasting is a shield, so long as you do not damage it. '
