أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا مِسْكِينُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ حِزَامٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَعْطَانِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ سَأَلْتُهُ فَأَعْطَانِي،‏‏‏‏ ثُمَّ سَأَلْتُهُ فَأَعْطَانِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا حَكِيمُ،‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ هَذَا الْمَالَ خَضِرَةٌ حُلْوَةٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مَنْ أَخَذَهُ بِسَخَاوَةِ نَفْسٍ بُورِكَ لَهُ فِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمَنْ أَخَذَهُ بِإِشْرَافِ النَّفْسِ لَمْ يُبَارَكْ لَهُ فِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكَانَ كَالَّذِي يَأْكُلُ وَلَا يَشْبَعُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْيَدُ الْعُلْيَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْيَدِ السُّفْلَى .

Urdu Translation

حکیم بن حزام رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے مانگا تو آپ نے مجھے دیا، پھر مانگا تو آپ نے پھر دیا، پھر مانگا تو آپ نے پھر دیا، پھر آپ نے فرمایا: ”حکیم! یہ مال ہری بھری اور میٹھی چیز ہے۔ جو اسے طبیعت کی فیاضی کے ساتھ لے گا تو اسے اس میں برکت دی جائے گی، اور جو نفس کی حرص و لالچ کے ساتھ لے گا تو اسے اس میں برکت نہیں دی جائے گی۔ اور وہ اس شخص کی طرح ہو گا جو کھاتا ہو لیکن آسودہ نہ ہوتا ہو، اور اوپر والا ہاتھ بہتر ہے نیچے والے ہاتھ سے“۔

English Translation

It was narrated that Hakim bin Hizam said: I asked the Messenger of Allah and he gave me, then I asked him and he gave me, then I asked him and he gave me. Then he said: 'O Kahim! This wealth is attractive and sweet. Whoever takes it without being greedy, it will be blessed for him, and whoever takes it with avarice, it will not be blessed for him. He is like one who eats and is not satisfied. And the upper hand is better than the lower hand. '
