أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَنَسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَمَّا انْقَضَتْ عِدَّةُ زَيْنَبَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِزَيْدٍ:‏‏‏‏ اذْكُرْهَا عَلَيَّ ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ زَيْدٌ:‏‏‏‏ فَانْطَلَقْتُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ يَا زَيْنَبُ أَبْشِرِي أَرْسَلَنِي إِلَيْكِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَذْكُرُكِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ مَا أَنَا بِصَانِعَةٍ شَيْئًا حَتَّى أَسْتَأْمِرَ رَبِّي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَامَتْ إِلَى مَسْجِدِهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَنَزَلَ الْقُرْآنُ وَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَدَخَلَ بِغَيْرِ أَمْرٍ .

Urdu Translation

انس رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   جب زینب رضی اللہ عنہا کی عدت پوری ہوئی تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے زید رضی اللہ عنہا کو ان کے پاس بھیجا کہ جا کر انہیں میرے لیے رشتہ کا پیغام دو۔ زید رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں: میں گیا اور میں نے کہا: زینب خوش ہو جاؤ! رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مجھے تمہارے پاس نکاح کا پیغام دے کر بھیجا ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا: میں کچھ نہیں کرنے کی جب تک میں اپنے رب سے مشورہ نہ کر لوں ( یہ کہہ کر ) وہ اپنے مصلی پر ( صلاۃ استخارہ پڑھنے ) کھڑی ہو گئیں، ( ادھر اللہ تعالیٰ نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا نکاح ان سے آسمان پر ہی کر دیا ) ، اور قرآن نازل ہو گیا: «فلما قضى زيد منها وطرا زوجناكها» ( اس آیت کے نزول کے بعد ) رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ان کے پاس کسی حکم و اجازت ( یعنی رسمی ایجاب و قبول کے بغیر تشریف لائے، اور ) ان سے خلوت میں ملے۔

English Translation

It was narrated that Anas said: When the 'Iddah of Zainab was over, the Messenger of Allah said to Zaid: 'Propose marriage to her on my behalf.' Zaid went and said: 'O Zainab, rejoice, for the Messenger of Allah has sent me to you to propose marriage on his behalf.' She said: 'I will not do anything until I consult my Lord.' She went to her prayer place and Qur'an was revealed, then the Messenger of Allah came and entered upon her without any formalities.
