أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلَّامٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاق الْأَزْرَقُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا بِهِ حُسَيْنٌ الْمُعَلِّمُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ طَاوُسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا يَحِلُّ لِأَحَدٍ أَنْ يُعْطِيَ الْعَطِيَّةَ فَيَرْجِعَ فِيهَا إِلَّا الْوَالِدَ فِيمَا يُعْطِي وَلَدَهُ وَمَثَلُ الَّذِي يُعْطِي الْعَطِيَّةَ فَيَرْجِعُ فِيهَا كَالْكَلْبِ يَأْكُلُ حَتَّى إِذَا شَبِعَ قَاءَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ عَادَ فَرَجَعَ فِي قَيْئِهِ .

Urdu Translation

عبداللہ بن عمر اور عبداللہ بن عباس رضی الله عنہم سے روایت ہے کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”کسی کے لیے جائز نہیں ہے کہ وہ کسی کو کوئی عطیہ ( تحفہ ) دے پھر اسے واپس لے لے۔ سوائے باپ کے، جو وہ اپنی اولاد کو دے، اور اس شخص کی مثال جو کسی کو عطیہ دیتا ہے پھر اسے واپس لے لیتا ہے اس کتے کی ہے جو کھاتا جاتا ہے یہاں تک کہ جب اس کا پیٹ بھر جاتا ہے تو وہ قے کر دیتا ہے پھر اسی کو چاٹ لیتا ہے“۔

English Translation

It was narrated from 'Amr bin Shu'aib, from Tawus, from Ibn 'Umar and Ibn 'Abbas, that they said: The Messenger of Allah said: 'It is not permissible for anyone to give a gift then take it back, except a father with regard to what he gives to his son. The likeness of the one who gives a gift then takes it back, is that of the dog which eats then when it is full it vomits, then it goes back to its vomit.'
