It was narrated that Thabit bin Ad-Dahhak said: The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever swears by a religion other than Islam, telling a lie, will be as he said.' In his narration, Qutaibah said: Intentionally. Yazid said: Telling a lie will be as he said, and whoever kills himself with something. Allah will punish him with it in the Fire of Hell.

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ خَالِدٍ. ح وَأَنْبَأَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بَزِيعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ثَابِتِ بْنِ الضَّحَّاكِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ مَنْ حَلَفَ بِمِلَّةٍ سِوَى الْإِسْلَامِ كَاذِبًا فَهُوَ كَمَا قَالَ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ قُتَيْبَةُ فِي حَدِيثِهِ:‏‏‏‏ مُتَعَمِّدًا ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالَ يَزِيدُ:‏‏‏‏ كَاذِبًا فَهُوَ كَمَا قَالَ . (حديث مرفوع) (حديث موقوف) وَمَنْ قَتَلَ نَفْسَهُ بِشَيْءٍ عَذَّبَهُ اللَّهُ بِهِ فِي نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ .

ثابت بن ضحاک رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا:  اسلام کے سوا کسی اور ملت و مذہب کی جو کوئی جھوٹی قسم کھائے تو وہ ویسا ہی ہو گا جیسا اس نے کہا ، قتیبہ نے اپنی حدیث میں «متعمدا» کہا ہے  ( یعنی دوسری ملت کی جان بوجھ کر قسم کھائے )  اور یزید نے «كاذبا» کہا ہے  ( جو دوسری ملت کی جھوٹی قسم کھائے گا )  تو وہ ویسا ہی ہو گا جیسا اس نے کہا ۱؎ اور جو کوئی اپنے آپ کو کسی چیز سے قتل کر لے گا تو اللہ تعالیٰ اسے جہنم کی آگ میں اسی چیز سے عذاب دے گا۔
