أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَالِدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيل، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ قَيْسٍ:‏‏‏‏ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَ سَرِيَّةً إِلَى قَوْمٍ مِنْ خَثْعَمَ فَاسْتَعْصَمُوا بِالسُّجُودِ،‏‏‏‏ فَقُتِلُوا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَضَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِنِصْفِ الْعَقْلِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنِّي بَرِيءٌ مِنْ كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ مَعَ مُشْرِكٍ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ أَلَا لَا تَرَاءَى نَارَاهُمَا .

Urdu Translation

قیس بن ابی حازم سے روایت ہے کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے قبیلہ خثعم کے کچھ لوگوں کی طرف ( فوج کی ) ایک ٹکڑی بھیجی، تو انہوں نے سجدہ کر کے اپنے کو بچانا چاہا، پھر بھی وہ سب قتل کر دئیے گئے، تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان کی آدھی دیت ادا کی ۱؎ اور فرمایا: ”میں ہر اس مسلمان سے بری الذمہ ہوں جو مشرک کے ساتھ رہے“ ۲؎، پھر آپ نے فرمایا: سنو! ( مسلمان اور کافر اس حد تک دور رہیں کہ ) ان دونوں کو ایک دوسرے کی آگ نظر نہ آئے ۳؎۔

English Translation

It was narrated from Anas that: the Messenger of Allah sent a detachment jof troops to some people of Khath'am, who sought to protect themselves by prostrating (to demonstrate that they were Muslims), but they were killed. The Messenger of Allah ruled that half the Diyah should be paid, and said: I am innocent of any Muslim who (lives with) a Mushrik.' Then the Messenger of Allah said: Their fires should not be visible to one another. '
