أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ السَّرْحِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَرَأْتُ كِتَابَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الَّذِي كَتَبَ لِعَمْرِو بْنِ حَزْمٍ حِينَ بَعَثَهُ عَلَى نَجْرَانَ،‏‏‏‏ وَكَانَ الْكِتَابُ عِنْدَ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ حَزْمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَكَتَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا بَيَانٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ يَأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَوْفُوا بِالْعُقُودِ وَكَتَبَ الْآيَاتِ مِنْهَا حَتَّى بَلَغَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ سَرِيعُ الْحِسَابِ سورة المائدة آية 1 - 4 ،‏‏‏‏ ثُمَّ كَتَبَ:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا كِتَابُ الْجِرَاحِ،‏‏‏‏ فِي النَّفْسِ مِائَةٌ مِنَ الْإِبِلِ ،‏‏‏‏ نَحْوَهُ.

Urdu Translation

محمد بن شہاب زہری کہتے ہیں کہ   میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی وہ کتاب پڑھی جو آپ نے عمرو بن حزم رضی اللہ عنہ کے لیے لکھی جب انہیں نجران کا والی بنا کر بھیجا، کتاب ابوبکر بن حزم کے پاس تھی۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے لکھا تھا: یہ اللہ اور اس کے رسول کی طرف سے بیان ہے: «يا أيها الذين آمنوا أوفوا بالعقود» ”اے ایمان والو! عہد و پیماں پورے کرو“ ( المائدہ: ۱ ) اور اس کے بعد کی آیات لکھیں یہاں تک کہ آپ «إن اللہ سريع الحساب» ”اللہ جلد حساب لینے والا ہے“ ( المائدہ: ۴ ) تک پہنچے۔ پھر لکھا تھا: یہ زخموں کی کتاب ہے، ایک جان کی دیت سو اونٹ ہیں، پھر آگے اسی طرح ہے۔

English Translation

It was narrated that Ibn shihab said: I read the letter of the Messenger of allah which he wrote for 'Amr bin Hazm when he sent him to govern Najran. The letter was with Abu Bakr bin Hazm. The Messenger of Allah wrote this; 'A statement from Allah and His Messenger; O you who believe! Fulfill (your) obligations, and he wrote the Verses until he reached. Verily, Allah is Swift in reckoning. Then he wrote: 'this is the book if retaliation: For a soul, one hundred camels, '''' and so on
