It was narrated that Anas said: Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, cut off (a thief's hand) for a shield that was worth five Dirhams.

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَنَسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَطَعَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فِي مِجَنٍّ قِيمَتُهُ خَمْسَةُ دَرَاهِمَ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏هَذَا الصَّوَابُ.

انس رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ نے ایک ڈھال ( چرانے ) پر ( چور کا ) ہاتھ کاٹا جس کی قیمت پانچ درہم تھی ۱؎۔ ( ابوعبدالرحمٰن نسائی کہتے ہیں: ) یہی روایت صحیح ہے ۲؎۔
