It was narrated that Ayman said: The (hand of) a thief is not to be cut off for less than the price of a shield. (Daif Mawquf)

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمُجَاهِدٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ أَيْمَنَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا يُقْطَعُ السَّارِقُ فِي أَقَلَّ مِنْ ثَمَنِ الْمِجَنِّ .
