أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا حَرْبُ بْنُ شَدَّادٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو شَيْخٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَخِيهِ حِمَّانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَامَ حَجَّ جَمَعَ نَفَرًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْكَعْبَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ لَهُمْ:‏‏‏‏ أَنْشُدُكُمْ بِاللَّهِ،‏‏‏‏ هَلْ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ لُبُوسِ الذَّهَبِ ؟ قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ نَعَمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ. خَالَفَهُ الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ عَلَى اخْتِلَافِ أَصْحَابِهِ عَلَيْهِ فِيهِ.

Urdu Translation

ابوشیخ کے بھائی حمان سے روایت ہے کہ   جس سال معاویہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے حج کیا، صحابہ کرام کی ایک جماعت کو کعبے میں اکٹھا کر کے ان سے کہا: میں آپ کو اللہ کی قسم دیتا ہوں۔ کیا رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے سونا پہننے سے منع فرمایا؟ لوگوں نے کہا: ہاں، انہوں نے کہا: میں بھی اس کا گواہ ہوں۔ ( ابوعبدالرحمٰن نسائی کہتے ہیں: ) اوزاعی نے حرب بن شداد کے خلاف روایت کی ہے جب کہ خود اوزاعی کے شاگرد ان سے روایت کرنے میں مختلف ہیں۔

English Translation

Abu Shaikh narrated from his brother Himman: That when Mu'awiyah went on Hajj, he gathered together a group of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah [SAW] at the Ka'bah and said to them: I adjure you by Allah, did the Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbid wearing gold? They said: Yes. He said: And I bear witness to that.
