أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَجْلَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْزَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قال:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّمَا الْإِمَامُ لِيُؤْتَمَّ بِهِ فَإِذَا كَبَّرَ فَكَبِّرُوا وَإِذَا قَرَأَ فَأَنْصِتُوا قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ الْمُخَرِّمِيُّ يَقُولُ هُوَ ثِقَةٌ يَعْنِي مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ.

Urdu Translation

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا:  امام بنایا ہی اس لیے گیا ہے کہ اس کی اقتداء کی جائے، تو جب وہ اللہ اکبر کہے تو تم بھی اللہ اکبر کہو، اور جب وہ قرآت کرے تو تم خاموش رہو ۔ ابوعبدالرحمٰن  ( نسائی )  کہتے ہیں: مخرمی کہتے تھے: وہ یعنی محمد بن سعد الانصاری ثقہ ہیں۔

English Translation

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'The Imam is appointed to be followed, so when he says the takbir, say the takbir, and when he recites, be silent.'
