It was narrated that Jabir bin Samurah said: “The Prophet (ﷺ) used to deliver the sermon standing, then he would sit down, then he would stand up and recite some Verses and remember Allah. His sermon was moderate, and his prayer was moderate (i.e., neither too long nor too short).”

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ . ح حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ قَائِمًا ثُمَّ يَجْلِسُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ يَقُومُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَيَقْرَأُ آيَاتٍ وَيَذْكُرُ اللَّهَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكَانَتْ خُطْبَتُهُ قَصْدًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَصَلَاتُهُ قَصْدًا .

جابر بن سمرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کھڑے ہو کر خطبہ دیتے پھر بیٹھ جاتے، پھر کھڑے ہوتے اور قرآن کریم کی چند آیات تلاوت فرماتے اور اللہ کا ذکر کرتے، آپ کا خطبہ اور نماز دونوں ہی درمیانی ہوتے۔
