حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ شُرَحْبِيلَ بْنِ السِّمْطِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِكَعْبٍ:‏‏‏‏ يَا كَعْبُ بْنَ مُرَّةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدِّثْنَا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَاحْذَرْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏اسْتَسْقِ اللَّهَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَرَفَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَيْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ اسْقِنَا غَيْثًا مَرِيئًا مَرِيعًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏طَبَقًا عَاجِلًا غَيْرَ رَائِثٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏نَافِعًا غَيْرَ ضَارٍّ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَمَا جَمَّعُوا حَتَّى أُجِيبُوا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَأَتَوْهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَشَكَوْا إِلَيْهِ الْمَطَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏تَهَدَّمَتِ الْبُيُوتُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ حَوَالَيْنَا وَلَا عَلَيْنَا ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَجَعَلَ السَّحَابُ يَنْقَطِعُ يَمِينًا وَشِمَالًا.

Urdu Translation

شرحبیل بن سمط کہتے ہیں کہ   انہوں نے کعب رضی اللہ عنہ سے کہا: کعب بن مرہ! آپ ہم سے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی کوئی حدیث بیان کیجئیے اور احتیاط برتئے، تو انہوں نے کہا: ایک شخص نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آ کر عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! اللہ تعالیٰ سے بارش مانگئے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنے دونوں ہاتھ اٹھا کر فرمایا: «اللهم اسقنا غيثا مريئا مريعا طبقا عاجلا غير رائث نافعا غير ضار» اے اللہ! ہم پر اچھے انجام والی، سبزہ اگانے والی، زمین کو بھر دینے والی، جلد برسنے والی، تھم کر نہ برسنے والی، فائدہ دینے والی اور نقصان نہ پہنچانے والی بارش برسا کعب رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں: ابھی نماز جمعہ سے ہم فارغ بھی نہ ہوئے تھے کہ بارش ہونے لگی اور مسلسل ہوتی رہی، بالآخر پھر لوگ آپ کے پاس آئے، اور بارش کی کثرت کی شکایت کی اور کہا اللہ کے رسول! مکانات گر گئے، پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے یوں دعا فرمائی«اللهم حوالينا ولا علينا» اے اللہ! بارش ہمارے اردگرد میں ہو ہم پر نہ ہو ، کعب رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں: آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا یہ فرمانا تھا کہ بادل دائیں اور بائیں پھٹنے لگا ۱؎۔

English Translation

It was narrated from Shurahbil bin Simt that he said to Ka’b: “O Ka’b bin Murrah, narrate to us a Hadith from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), but be careful.” He said: “A man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, ask Allah for rain!’ So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) raised his hands and said: ‘O Allah! Send wholesome, productive rain upon all of us, sooner rather than later, beneficial and not harmful.’ No sooner had they finished performing Friday (prayer) but they were revived. Then they came to him and complained to him about the rain, saying: ‘O Allah, around us and not upon us.’ Then the clouds began to disperse right and left.”
