It was narrated from Abu Wa’il that ‘Abdullah said: “I prayed one night with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and he kept standing until I thought of doing something bad.” I said: “What was that?”He said: “I thought of sitting down and leaving him.”

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَامِرِ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ وَسُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ صَلَّيْتُ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَمْ يَزَلْ قَائِمًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَتَّى هَمَمْتُ بِأَمْرِ سَوْءٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ وَمَا ذَاكَ الْأَمْرُ؟، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ هَمَمْتُ أَنْ أَجْلِسَ وَأَتْرُكَهُ .
