It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “For everything there is Zakat and the Zakat of the body is fasting.” (A narrator in one of the chains) Muhriz added in his narration: And the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Fasting is half of patience.'

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحْرِزُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ الْعَدَنِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍجَمِيعًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جُمْهَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ زَكَاةٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَزَكَاةُ الْجَسَدِ الصَّوْمُ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏زَادَ مُحْرِزٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ الصِّيَامُ نِصْفُ الصَّبْرِ

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ہر چیز کی زکاۃ ہے، اور بدن کی زکاۃ روزہ ہے محرز کی روایت میں اتنا اضافہ: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: روزہ آدھا صبر ہے ۔
