حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يُوسُفَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الرَّقِّيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ الْحَرَّانِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاق، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ جَاهِمَةَ السُّلَمِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِنِّي كُنْتُ أَرَدْتُ الْجِهَادَ مَعَكَ أَبْتَغِي بِذَلِكَ وَجْهَ اللَّهِ وَالدَّارَ الْآخِرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَيْحَكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَحَيَّةٌ أُمُّكَ؟ قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ نَعَمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ ارْجِعْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَبَرَّهَا ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُهُ مِنَ الْجَانِبِ الْآخَرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِنِّي كُنْتُ أَرَدْتُ الْجِهَادَ مَعَكَ أَبْتَغِي بِذَلِكَ وَجْهَ اللَّهِ وَالدَّارَ الْآخِرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَيْحَكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَحَيَّةٌ أُمُّكَ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ نَعَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَارْجِعْ إِلَيْهَا فَبَرَّهَا ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُهُ مِنْ أَمَامِهِ فَقُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي كُنْتُ أَرَدْتُ الْجِهَادَ مَعَكَ أَبْتَغِي بِذَلِكَ وَجْهَ اللَّهِ وَالدَّارَ الْآخِرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَيْحَكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَحَيَّةٌ أُمُّكَ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ نَعَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَيْحَكَ الْزَمْ رِجْلَهَا فَثَمَّ الْجَنَّةُ ،‏‏‏‏

Urdu Translation

معاویہ بن جاہمہ سلمی رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس حاضر ہو کر عرض کیا: میں اللہ کی رضا اور دار آخرت کی بھلائی کے لیے آپ کے ساتھ جہاد کرنا چاہتا ہوں، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: افسوس، کیا تمہاری ماں زندہ ہے؟ میں نے کہا: ہاں، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: واپس جاؤ، اور اپنی ماں کی خدمت کرو پھر میں دوسری جانب سے آیا، اور میں نے عرض کیا: میں اللہ کی رضا جوئی اور دار آخرت کی خاطر آپ کے ساتھ جہاد کا ارادہ رکھتا ہوں، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: کیا تیری ماں زندہ ہے ؟ میں نے پھر کہا: ہاں! اللہ کے رسول! آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: اس کے پاس واپس چلے جاؤ اور اس کی خدمت کرو ، پھر میں آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے سامنے سے آیا اور آپ سے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! میں نے اللہ کی رضا اور دار آخرت کے لیے آپ کے ساتھ جہاد کا ارادہ کیا ہے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: افسوس، کیا تمہاری ماں زندہ ہے؟ میں نے جواب دیا: ہاں! اللہ کے رسول! آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: افسوس! اس کے پیر کے پاس رہو، وہیں جنت ہے ۔

English Translation

It was narrated that Mu’awiyah bin Jahimah As-Sulaimi said: “I came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, I want to go for Jihad with you, seeking thereby the Face of Allah and the Hereafter.’ He said: ‘Woe to you! Is your mother still alive?’ I said: ‘Yes.’ He said: ‘Go back and honor her.’ Then I approached him from the other side and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, I want to go for Jihad with you, seeking thereby the Face of Allah and the Hereafter.’ He said: ‘Woe to you! Is your mother still alive?’ I said: ‘Yes.’ He said: ‘Go back and honour her.’ Then I approached him from in front and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, I want to go for Jihad with you, seeking thereby the Face of Allah and the Hereafter.’ He said: ‘Woe to you! Is your mother still alive?’ I said: ‘Yes.’ He said: ‘Go back and serve her, for there is Paradise.’”
