حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنْبَأَنَا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَابِرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ جَاءَ عَبْدٌ فَبَايَعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الْهِجْرَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَمْ يَشْعُرِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ عَبْدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَجَاءَ سَيِّدُهُ يُرِيدُهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ بِعْنِيهِ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَاشْتَرَاهُ بِعَبْدَيْنِ أَسْوَدَيْنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ لَمْ يُبَايِعْ أَحَدًا بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَتَّى يَسْأَلَهُ:‏‏‏‏ أَعَبْدٌ هُوَ؟.

Urdu Translation

جابر رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   ایک غلام آیا، اور نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے ہجرت پر بیعت کر لی، اور آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو اس کے غلام ہونے کا معلوم ہی نہ ہوا، چنانچہ اس کا مالک جب اسے لینے کے مقصد سے آیا تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: یہ غلام مجھے بیچ دو ، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اسے دو کالے غلاموں کے عوض خرید لیا، پھر اس کے بعد کسی سے بھی یہ معلوم کئے بغیر بیعت نہیں کرتے کہ وہ غلام تو نہیں ہے؟۔

English Translation

It was narrated that Jabir said: “A slave came and gave his pledge to the Prophet (ﷺ), pledging to emigrate, and the Prophet (ﷺ) did not realize that he was a slave. Then his master came looking for him, and the Prophet (ﷺ) said: ‘Sell him to me,’ and he brought him in exchange for two black slaves. Then after that he did not accept the pledge from anyone until he had asked whether he was a slave.”
