حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا بَيَانُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّا قَوْمٌ نَصِيدُ بِهَذِهِ الْكِلَابِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا أَرْسَلْتَ كِلَابَكَ الْمُعَلَّمَةَ وَذَكَرْتَ اسْمَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهَا فَكُلْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مَا أَمْسَكْنَ عَلَيْكَ إِنْ قَتَلْنَ إِلَّا أَنْ يَأْكُلَ الْكَلْبُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنْ أَكَلَ الْكَلْبُ فَلَا تَأْكُلْ فَإِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ يَكُونَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِنَّمَا أَمْسَكَ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِنْ خَالَطَهَا كِلَابٌ أُخَرُ فَلَا تَأْكُلْ قَالَ ابْن مَاجَةَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُهُ يَعْنِي عَلِيَّ بْنَ الْمُنْذِرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ حَجَجْتُ ثَمَانِيَةً وَخَمْسِينَ حِجَّةً أَكْثَرُهَا رَاجِلٌ.

Urdu Translation

عدی بن حاتم رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے پوچھا: ہم ایک ایسی قوم ہیں جو کتوں سے شکار کرتے ہیں، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جب تم سدھائے ہوئے کتوں کو «بسم الله» کہہ کر چھوڑو، تو ان کے اس شکار کو کھاؤ جو وہ تمہارے لیے روکے رکھیں، چاہے انہیں قتل کر دیا ہو، سوائے اس کے کہ کتے نے اس میں سے کھا لیا ہو، اگر کتے نے کھا لیا تو مت کھاؤ، اس لیے کہ میں ڈرتا ہوں کہ کہیں کتے نے اسے اپنے لیے پکڑا ہو، اور اگر اس سدھائے ہوئے کتوں کے ساتھ دوسرے کتے بھی شریک ہو گئے ہوں تو بھی مت کھاؤ ۱؎۔ ابن ماجہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے علی بن منذر کو کہتے سنا کہ میں نے اٹھاون حج کیے ہیں اور ان میں سے اکثر پیدل چل کر۔

English Translation

It was narrated that ‘Adi bin Hatim said: “I asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ): ‘We are people who hunt with these dogs.’ He said: ‘If you send out your trained dogs and mention the Name of Allah over them, then eat whatever they catch even if they kill it, unless the dog has eaten any of it. If the dog has eaten any of it then do not eat it, for I fear that it will have caught it for itself. And if another dog joins it, then do not eat it.’”
