حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ أَبِي فَاخِتَةَ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنِيهُبَيْرَةُ بْنُ يَرِيمَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ،‏‏‏‏ أَنَّهُ أُهْدِيَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حُلَّةٌ مَكْفُوفَةٌ بِحَرِيرٍ،‏‏‏‏ إِمَّا سَدَاهَا،‏‏‏‏ وَإِمَّا لَحْمَتُهَا فَأَرْسَلَ بِهَا إِلَيَّ فَأَتَيْتُهُ،‏‏‏‏ فَقُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ،‏‏‏‏ مَا أَصْنَعُ بِهَا أَلْبَسُهَا،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا وَلَكِنْ اجْعَلْهَا خُمُرًا بَيْنَ الْفَوَاطِمِ .

Urdu Translation

علی رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں ایک ریشمی ( جوڑا ) تحفہ میں آیا جس کے تانے یا بانے میں ریشم ملا ہوا تھا، آپ نے وہ میرے پاس بھیج دیا، میں آپ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا، اور عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! میں اس کا کیا کروں؟ کیا میں اسے پہنوں؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: نہیں، بلکہ اسے فاطماؤں کی اوڑھنیاں بنا دو ۱؎۔

English Translation

It was narrated from ‘Ali that a two-piece suit hemmed with silk, either on the wrap or the weft,* was given to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and he sent them to me (‘Ali). I came to him and said: “O Messenger of Allah, what should I do with these? Shall I wear them?” He said: “No, rather make them into head-cloths and give them to the Fatimahs.”**
