حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاق،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبَّادِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ أَبِيهِ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ أَهْدَى النَّجَاشِيُّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَلْقَةً،‏‏‏‏ فِيهَا خَاتَمُ ذَهَبٍ فِيهِ فَصٌّ حَبَشِيٌّ،‏‏‏‏ فَأَخَذَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِعُودٍ،‏‏‏‏ وَإِنَّهُ لَمُعْرِضٌ عَنْهُ أَوْ بِبَعْضِ أَصَابِعِهِ،‏‏‏‏ ثُمَّ دَعَا ابْنَةِ ابْنَتِهِ أُمَامَةَ بِنْتِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ تَحَلِّي بِهَذَا يَا بُنَيَّةُ .

Urdu Translation

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ   نجاشی نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں ایک چھلا بطور ہدیہ بھیجا، اس میں ایک سونے کی انگوٹھی تھی، انگوٹھی میں حبشی نگینہ تھا، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اسے لکڑی سے چھوا، آپ اس سے اعراض کر رہے تھے، یا پھر اپنی ایک انگلی سے چھوا، اور اپنی نواسی امامہ بنت ابی العاص کو بلا کر فرمایا: بیٹی! اسے تم پہن لو ۔

English Translation

It was narrated that ‘Aishah the Mother of the Believers said: “Najashi sent some jewelry as a gift to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). Among that was a gold ring with an Ethiopian gemstone. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) picked it up with a stick – as if he found it distasteful – or with one of his fingers, then he called for his daughter, Umamah bint Abul-‘As, and said: ‘Wear this, O my daughter.’”
