حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ الْمِصْرِيُّ،‏‏‏‏ أَنْبَأَنَا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ أَخِيهِ عَبَّادِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ،‏‏‏‏ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ،‏‏‏‏ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ،‏‏‏‏ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْأَرْبَعِ:‏‏‏‏ مِنْ عِلْمٍ لَا يَنْفَعُ،‏‏‏‏ وَمِنْ قَلْبٍ لَا يَخْشَعُ،‏‏‏‏ وَمِنْ نَفْسٍ لَا تَشْبَعُ،‏‏‏‏ وَمِنْ دُعَاءٍ لَا يُسْمَعُ .

Urdu Translation

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم یہ دعا فرمایا کرتے تھے: «اللهم إني أعوذ بك من الأربع من علم لا ينفع ومن قلب لا يخشع ومن نفس لا تشبع ومن دعا لا يسمع» اے اللہ! میں چار باتوں سے تیری پناہ چاہتا ہوں: اس علم سے جو فائدہ نہ دے، اس دل سے جو اللہ کے سامنے نرم نہ ہو، اس نفس سے جو آسودہ نہ ہو اور اس دعا سے جو قبول نہ ہو ۔

English Translation

Abu Hurairah told that the Messenger of Allah (saas) said: 'Allahumma! Inni a'udhu bika minal-arba': min 'ilmin la yanfa'u, wa min qalbin la yakhsha'u, wa min nafsin la tashba'u, wa min du'a'in la yusma' [O Allah, I seek refuge with You from four things: From knowledge that is of no benefit, from a heart that does not fear (You), from a soul that is never satisfied, and from a supplication that is not heard].'
