It was narrated from Jarir bin ‘Abdullah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, during the Farewell Pilgrimage: “Make the people pay attention.” Then he said: “Do not turn back into disbelievers after I am gone, striking one another’s necks.”

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ،‏‏‏‏ وَعْبَدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُدْرِكٍ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا زُرْعَةَ بْنَ عَمْرِو بْنِ جَرِيرٍ يُحَدِّثُ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ،‏‏‏‏ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ:‏‏‏‏ اسْتَنْصِتِ النَّاسَ ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا تَرْجِعُوا بَعْدِي كُفَّارًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ .

جریر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے حجۃ الوداع میں فرمایا: لوگوں کو خاموش کرو پھر فرمایا: تم لوگ میرے بعد کافر نہ ہو جانا کہ تم میں سے بعض بعض کی گردن مارنے لگے ۔
