It was narrated from Hudhaifah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “The believer should not humiliate himself.” They said: “How could he humiliate himself?” He said: “By taking on a trial that he cannot deal with.”

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَاصِمٍ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ الْحَسَنِ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْجُنْدُبٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا يَنْبَغِي لِلْمُؤْمِنِ أَنْ يُذِلَّ نَفْسَهُ ،‏‏‏‏ قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ وَكَيْفَ يُذِلُّ نَفْسَهُ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَتَعَرَّضُ مِنَ الْبَلَاءِ لِمَا لَا يُطِيقُهُ .

حذیفہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: مومن کے لیے یہ جائز نہیں کہ وہ اپنے آپ کو رسوا و ذلیل کرے ، لوگوں نے عرض کیا: اپنے آپ کو کیسے رسوا و ذلیل کرے گا؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ایسی مصیبت کا سامنا کرے گا، جس کی اس میں طاقت نہ ہو گی ۔
