Baab Jannat Ka Wasf Aur Is Ki Naimaton Ka Tazkira

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عُمَارَةَ الْعَبْدِيِّ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيُّ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كُنَّا جُلُوسًا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَتَتْكُمْ وُفُودُ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ ،‏‏‏‏ وَمَا يَرَى أَحَدٌ فِينَا نَحْنُ كَذَلِكَ إِذْ جَاءُوا فَنَزَلُوا،‏‏‏‏ فَأَتَوْا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَبَقِيَ الْأَشَجُّ الْعَصَرِيُّ،‏‏‏‏ فَجَاءَ بَعْدُ فَنَزَلَ مَنْزِلًا،‏‏‏‏ فَأَنَاخَ رَاحِلَتَهُ وَوَضَعَ ثِيَابَهُ جَانِبًا،‏‏‏‏ ثُمَّ جَاءَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا أَشَجُّ،‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ فِيكَ لَخَصْلَتَيْنِ يُحِبُّهُمَا اللَّهُ:‏‏‏‏ الْحِلْمَ وَالتُّؤَدَةَ ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ،‏‏‏‏ أَشَيْءٌ جُبِلْتُ عَلَيْهِ أَمْ شَيْءٌ حَدَثَ لِي،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ بَلْ شَيْءٌ جُبِلْتَ عَلَيْهِ .

Urdu Translation

ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   ہم رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس بیٹھے تھے کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: تمہارے پاس قبیلہ عبدالقیس کے وفود آئے ہیں، اور کوئی اس وقت نظر نہیں آ رہا تھا، ہم اسی حال میں تھے کہ وہ آ پہنچے، اترے اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آ گئے، اشج عصری رضی اللہ عنہ باقی رہ گئے، وہ بعد میں آئے، ایک مقام پر اترے، اپنی اونٹنی کو بٹھایا، اپنے کپڑے ایک طرف رکھے پھر نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آئے، تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: اے اشج! تم میں دو خصلتیں ہیں جن کو اللہ تعالیٰ پسند کرتا ہے: ایک تو حلم و بردباری، دوسری طمانینت و سہولت، اشج رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! یہ صفات میری خلقت میں ہے یا نئی پیدا ہوئی ہیں؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: نہیں، یہ پیدائشی ہیں ۱؎۔

English Translation

Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri said: “We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and he said: ‘The delegations of ‘Abdul-Qais have come to you,’ and no one had seen anyone. While we were like that, they came and alighted. They came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and Ashajj ‘Ansari was left behind. He came afterwards, and halted at the halting-place, made his she-camel kneel down, and changed of his traveling clothes, then he came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to him: ‘O Ashajj, you have two characteristics that Allah likes: Forbearance and deliberation.’ He said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, was I born with them or are they acquired?’ He said: ‘No, rather it is something that you were born with.’”
