It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Faith has sixty-some or seventy parts, the least of which is to remove a harmful thing from the road and the greatest of which is to say La ilaha illalah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah). And modesty is a branch of faith.' Another chain from Abu Hurairah, from the Prophet (ﷺ) with similar wording.

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الطَّنَافِسِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ الْإِيمَانُ بِضْعٌ وَسِتُّونَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ سَبْعُونَ بَابًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَدْنَاهَا إِمَاطَةُ الْأَذَى عَنِ الطَّرِيقِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَرْفَعُهَا قَوْلُ:‏‏‏‏ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْحَيَاءُ شُعْبَةٌ مِنَ الْإِيمَانِ .

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ایمان کے ساٹھ یا ستر سے زائد شعبے ( شاخیں ) ہیں، ان میں سے ادنی ( سب سے چھوٹا ) شعبہ ۱؎ تکلیف دہ چیز کو راستے سے ہٹانا ہے، اور سب سے اعلیٰ اور بہتر شعبہ «لا إله إلا الله» اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود برحق نہیں کہنا ہے، اور شرم و حیاء ایمان کی ایک شاخ ہے ۲؎۔
