It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), Abu Bakr and ‘Umar used to start their recitation with ‘All the praises and thanks are to Allah, the Lord of all that exists (Al-hamdu Lillahi Rabbil-‘Alamin).” [1:2]

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنْبَأَنَا سُفْيَانُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا جُبَارَةُ بْنُ الْمُغَلِّسِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعُمَرُ يَفْتَتِحُونَ الْقِرَاءَةَ بِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ .
