It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet (ﷺ) used to start his recitation with ‘All the praises and thanks are to Allah, the Lord of all that exists’ (Al-hamdu Lillahi Rabbil-‘Alamin),’ [1: 2]

حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجَهْضَمِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَبَكْرُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعُقْبَةُ بْنُ مُكْرَمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عِيسَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَابِشْرُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ابْنِ عَمِّ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ:‏‏‏‏ يَفْتَتِحُ الْقِرَاءَةَ بِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ .
