Thawban narrated that when he finished his prayer, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would ask for forgiveness three times, then he would say: “Allahumma Antas-Salam wa minkas-salam tabarakta ya Dhal-jalali wal- ikram” (O Allah, You are As-Salam and from You is all peace, Blessed are You O Possessor of majesty and honour).”

حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنِي شَدَّادٌ أَبُو عَمَّارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو أَسْمَاءَ الرَّحَبِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنِي ثَوْبَانُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَن رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا انْصَرَفَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ اسْتَغْفَرَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ السَّلَامُ وَمِنْكَ السَّلَامُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏تَبَارَكْتَ يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ .

ثوبان رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جب اپنی نماز سے فارغ ہوتے تو تین بار «استغفر الله» کہتے، پھر «اللهم أنت السلام ومنك السلام تباركت يا ذا الجلال والإكرام» کہتے۔
