Fruits and Nuts

Fruits and nuts are great source of energy that nature has provided us. Winter season is rich in different types of fruits each has its own taste and nutritional value. Nuts are also fruits covered with a hard shell. Fruits and nuts contain an ample supply of nutrition- fats and oils, proteins and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, iron, cobalt and sulpher. Winter season comes with a variety of citrus fruits, cherries, apples, carrot and of course dry fruits (NUTS).

APPLE:
“An apple a day keeps a doctor away”, this apple saying tell us the story about nutritional value of apples. Many of us don’t know that apple belong to rose family. Among apples there is one called King of Apples, having crown shaped starlet surface with tiny white dots shining like stars. It is better to eat apple with peel.

CARROTS:
Carrots are rich source of carotene and good for vision. Carrot is good for those with hepatitis. Patients having hepatitis should consume carrot juice. It is very effective in acidity and for heart patients.

GUAVA:
Guava is a fruit with sweet and sour flavors and available in many varieties. 1 variety is available in our country is yellow strawberry, commonly called guava. It is named because the pulp is soft and aroma of the fruit is like strawberry. It is an excellent source of vitamin A & C. it contains 5.5 times more vitamin C as compared to lemon. 100gm of guava contains 270mg of vitamin C.

CITRUS FRUITS:
Citrus fruits are a great source of vitamin C. Vitamin C protects our body from certain diseases and is good for healing purposes. Citrus fruits contain oranges, lemon and grapefruit.

POMEGRANATE:
Pomegranate is also called by different names, such as “Apple of Carthage”. The pomegranate is a fruit symbolizing (progentivity) auspicious happiness and fertility. The Greek Goddess of Children has a boy in one hand and a pomegranate in other hand.

NUTS:
There is a huge variety of nuts like almonds, peanuts, cashew nuts, pistachio, chestnut, and walnut. Al dry fruits are a great source of oils, fats and proteins. Each fruits have its own nutritional advantages that we all can’t deny.
