(Zonia Amer and Hafsa Qureshi, Lahore)

I undoubtedly acknowledge the fact that during quarantine our food intake has sufficiently increased. Due to the lock-down and the strict monitoring of all the areas by the police, the gyms have been shut down as well. In this tense situation staying fit has become strenuous for every one of us. So, here I have a list of some nutritious foods which you can consume to stay fit.

1. Detoxifying water:
Detox water is water that has been infused with the flavors of fresh fruits, vegetables or herbs. It's sometimes referred to as fruit-infused water or fruit-flavored water. You can make detox water at home in lots of different ways, using any combination of fruits, vegetables and herbs that you like. Here are some popular detox water recipe combinations:
Cucumber and mint.
Lemon and ginger.
Blackberry and orange.
Lemon and cayenne pepper.
Watermelon and mint.
Grapefruit and rosemary.
Orange and lemon.
Lemon and lime.
Strawberry and basil.
Apple and cinnamon.
After adding the ingredients of your choice in water, leave it overnight. This will allow the flavor to infuse more deeply.

2. Green tea:

Green tea contains substances that can help you lose fat. It contains caffeine. Caffeine is a well-known stimulant that has been found to aid fat burning and improve exercise performance in numerous studies. In addition, green tea boosts up your metabolic rate. The best time to drink green tea is at night. Consuming a cup of green tea just before going to bed has also been shown to aid in digestion.

3. Hot water:
Hot water not only aids in weight loss but also improves blood circulations and decreases stress level. Drink hot water after waking up in the morning. In advanced countries like Japan and China, people prefer drink hot water instead of cold because it prevents stroke or heart attack and maintains the inner body temperature.

4. Pulses and beans:
Pulses are a essential part of our diet. Pulses provide protein and fiber, as well as a significant source of vitamins and minerals, such as iron, zinc, folate, and magnesium, and consuming half a cup of beans or peas per day can enhance diet quality by increasing intakes of these nutrients. Fiber helps in digestion. Your body uses protein to build and repair tissues. You also use proteins to make enzymes, hormones and other body chemicals. Protein is important for building block of bones, muscles, cartilage, skin and blood.

5. Vegetables and fruits:
They are important sources of vitamins, minerals, dietary fibre, plant protein and antioxidants. People with diets rich in vegetables and fruit have a significantly lower risk of obesity, heart disease, stroke, diabetes and certain types of cancer.

Eating healthy food is not sufficient for being fit. Exercise plays a major role in fitness. In order to stay as fit as a fiddle , do exercise daily. Other steps such as getting enough sleep and controlling the stress level are also significant.

Stay healthy, stay happy, stay safe :)
